Fifty miles per week

That seems to be my threshold for developing crotch toughness on the bike. Under that, and I carry acute reminders of my ride with me for 24-48 hours. Now that I'm getting above that mileage rate, I don't seem to have the same type of soreness problem.

This is just a note to myself to remember for next year, since I don't plan on dipping below 50 miles per week on the bike again until mid-November of this year. Hopefully.

Slowly, but surely, I'm developing that crotch toughness and putting "tissue issues" behind me (no pun intended). I've been riding bare, meaning no bike shorts and no lube. For the first few weeks on my bike (riding the trainer because the weather was still to cold and foul to be outside), I felt like my pubic bone was permanently bruised. Then I took a week off of riding for some reason and when I returned, the permanent bruised feeling was gone. I have yet to ride my bike to the century mark in this fashion, but I'm getting used to riding for 75-85 miles this way. Not saying that would work for everyone, but so far it is working for me.

And as Ellie said, you are sooooo not alone. We ALL deal with this problem.

No bike shorts? Bet you get plenty of looks :-)

Hmm, Puddy, I may just have to try that. Even some of my shorts with thin pads have rough stitching that chafes. I just need to grow an IRON CROTCH.
