Sad robin news

They didn't make it. I found at least three of the four babies on the ground underneath the nest, dead. I don't know how they got there - whether it was the cat from across the street, a first-time mother robin dumbly pushing them out long before they were ready, or what happened. She was gone too. I'm just glad the girls didn't really know they were there so I don't have to explain it to them!

Oh, no! That's very sad. The same sort of thing happens every year with many of the sparrow nests in our carport at work, but I thought it was just a sparrow thing.

Poor babies!

Awwww. :( I really was hoping that they'd make it. What a bummer.

We see it here too. I realize it's nature but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.

The girls find them sometimes and we have little funerals with tiny boxes lined with tissue.

Awww, that is very sad. It probably was a kitty cat. Nature can be so unfair and violent!

Oh, no!
:-(
We there high winds recently? The birds may have fallen out of a wind-blown nest.
Not to be gruesome, but if it had been a cat that got them...the remains would have been...um...sparse...
