Calorie counting progress report

2 weeks.
6511 kcalorie deficit (supposedly).
NOT counting an average of over 400 kcalories per day burned during exercise.

ZERO pounds lost.

*deep breath*

OK, I can do this.... FitDay is my friend, FitDay is my friend....

Good news - inches lost in two weeks:
Bust: -0.5 inches
Hips: -1.5 inches
Thigh: -0.5 inches
Calf: -0.5 inches
Upper arm: -0.5 inches
Neck: -1.0 inch

Okay, I'll be happy with that! The old body is occupying less volume, I really should be weighing less, but . . . whatever! It's enough positive progress to keep me in the fourth circle of the hell of calorie counting - for another week, at least. No promises after that.

Muscle weighs more than fat...remember that! Stick to how your clothes fit and don't obsess about the calories.
And hey,,,I just saw some AMAZING strong, fit, big women complete Ironman Arizona. Sometimes it's not about size...except when you are measuring your HEART! :-)

I also have a Tanita that I use on weekends - but I have to say I hate it! Mainly because it varies 3-4% body fat reading within a day just with hydration.

Thanks for the nice encouragement, everyone!! :-)

Loss of inches is great! Think of it this way - everyone can see the inches lost, but they can't see the number go down. As long as the clothes are getting looser and you are feeling good - and fueled - then you are doing great!

What they said. Do you care more about what gravity says or about what size you wear?

I thought so. Stupid gravity.

Great job, Nancy!

My body sure loves gravity. :-)

I used Fitday for 3 weeks and I found I was eating more than normal and gaining weight while I was tracking every crumb of food entering my mouth. Funny when I stopped counting, I lost 4 lbs.

Congrats on less volume! When the scale doesn't move, less volume definitely helps. I hate pushing stuff but really...just go look at SparkPeople.com. With your professional background I bet you'll be hooked. And you won't have to talk yourself into believing it's your friend.

H - Thanks, I did take a look at Sparkpeople, and it does look like a good site and program. I just don't want to start from scratch entering all my foods, exercises, etc., again! Thanks for the recommendation!

Nancy,

Don't give up hope! Like others have said, your body composition is clearly changing. I totally understand where you're coming from. I'm exactly in the same boat that you are.

I do think FitDay over estimates calories burned during workouts. But I also think it over estimates how many calories are burned via normal activity? I'm basing this off of other things I've read. Those over estimates may balance out in the end, though?

Keep up the great work! It'll come off eventually!

You're building muscles. I went thru the same thing before my weight suddenly dived. But I agree with the rest, long as the inches are coming down, I don't care much about the weight. ;)

TIME - Keep it up, it will come off. Frustrating yes, but worth it in the end. You are doing an awesome job.
