I love the Tri-geek Kahuna's rant: Blog or else! Yep, if the blogs on my sidebar can only muster one or two posts for the entire summer, they're getting culled off my list. That's ridiculous! There are no vacations from fitness! Show me a triathlon blog with infrequent posts and I'll show you a blogger who isn't training.
Also, another blogging pet peeve: If you're going to stop by someone's blog, why not take a moment to LEAVE A COMMENT? It only takes a moment and it's a nice compliment to the blogger that their writings are having an impact out there for their readers. Blogs are meant to be more or less interactive - so COMMENT already!

It's hard to believe, but sometimes I have nothing to say in response to a post. But, I've solved that. I am now officially selling: Xenibuygoldfatreduction pills. I'll leave my calling card each time I have nothing better to say :))
What a great idea!
Yeah, I read a lot more than I comment on, but there are some notorious tri-bloggers who almost NEVER EVER comment on anyone else's blog. WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
Tons of my readers are using feed subscriptions such as bloglines. As I see it, there are two "problems" (?) with using feeds. 1) it gives people a tool they can use to track and visit many more blogs than they otherwise would and 2) because of 1, and the readers wish to move on quickly to other blogs, they simply feel too rushed to leave a comment.
My two cents...but I tend to agree with you even if I have also been a culprit of this practice!
Blog in peace Nancy. :)
i agree leave a comment.. but then i don't always know what to say since i want to leave a nice witty note. mother said if you can't say something nice then.... o your mom said that too?
Well, sometimes, due to a busy training schedule and work, (and very little to say), blogging can take a back seat for me.
Commenting is nice though. We should all comment more on all the blogs we read. Like mine!
Woo hooo! I *like* this! Berate the readers and they come out of the woodwork! I should abuse my readers more often! ;-)
Is Nancy referring to me? I hope not. Sometimes I don't comment because like tri-mama said, I just don't have much to say. I think a lot of times I have to work hard to not be the person who figures things are just going well if they don't hear anything.
In any case, here's a comment. I can't promise perfection, but I do appreciate comments at Confessions of a Flabby Ironman so the least I can do is muster up a few comments here and there.
When I have no opinion, I'll just leave a "great job" or "keep up the effort" kind of message. At least the author knows someone is reading their work.
Great job, Nancy! Keep up the effort!
"Great job" "Keep up the effort"
Just joking...I feel the same way...if you cared enough to read the post, at least comment on it!
Great points!
Guilty as charged! Thanks for the kick in the pants.
I want to say that I have been a lurker but someone who finds your blog inspirational, fun and interesting to read. As a mother of twins too (pushing 40) I instantly felt akin to you as I take on this triathlon thing for the first time this summer. I hope you don't mind me getting all philosophical, but by slowly finding out more about your life and all that you have been through and more importantly what you are moving toward, I am more and more amazed at how wonderful and resilient we humans are. Thank you for your blog.
I hear you loud and clear, runr53! Sorry about that. I do tend to give more feedback to people that maintain a blog, just because it's easier to see what they're up to!
I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who chimed in here, especially the lurkers who don't usually comment. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. :-) It really is nice to know that you come by and read regularly - at times blogging can feel like talking to a wall! So it's great to hear from you.
Ahhh, I looked for it! I did!! It must not be a Blogger blog, because it's not listed on your profile that is linked to your comments. Sorry, I'll do better and put it on my bloglines!!
I love your blog - I am WAY impressed with your Tri endeavours - hoping to catch whatever it is you have... Thanks!
I tend to leave at least a little something pithy. But it takes so much damn time to read and I tend to over write for 43 blogline entrys.
