- Closing a cereal box in the usual way. You know, folding up the bag and then shutting the box top. Well, that's not good enough here, everything needs to be completely sealed air-tight. The ants set up a Burma Road supply line just to feast on my cereal.
- So I sprayed around the back door which was the entry point for the Ant Burma Road. In response to the outcries of their dying brethren suffering in the Antocaust, they deployed a massive Ant Army. This is their staging ground. Right inside my back door. In my kitchen.
In any case . . . . UGH! I've been cleaning up little corpses all afternoon.

Ewww...creepy crawlies...we have had the same here, but not for quite some time. Hope not again forever!
so, i keep all my cereal in the refrigerator. I adopted this strategy when I was mindlessly eating my bowl of cereal, halfway thru it, happened to glance down....you fill in the blank...
Antocaust!
LOL
I hate bugs too!!
Live long and prosper but stay the freak out of my house will ya!
We have had rain for days that seems none stop and though I don't have them indoors yet they are taking over my flower beds and trees.
Maybe they are searching for high ground.....
The ants were having a jamboree at my house yesterday afternoon too - ugh!
GROOOOOSSSSSS. I remember having that problem in the house that I grew up in. It still freaks me out. Thank God we haven't had any problems in my own houses... I think I might pull my hair out. I don't think I have to worry about them getting flooded out in Texas though. Hot and dry. They stay in the yard that way at least!
When you kill an ant they use their ray gun to call in the troops. Well...something like that. I broke down and hired an exterminator. He's been back once (that's all I get) and they are still coming in (to rooms where there is no food) The kids like stepping on them. What a fun house we live in.
There are some pretty good ant baits out there. Look for bait instead of sprays. The bait is something the ants take back to the colony and use as food. You sprinkle it around the outside of the house, giving them something to find before entering the house.
Sigh. I have ant baits ALL OVER MY KITCHEN. I change them evey month or so. I have outdoor ant baits surrounding the outside wall near the kitchen. I spray once in a while inside (I don't like to because I have toddlers using that floor). I spray the foundation of the house outside every week or two.
The ants are still winning.
We have to keep cereal in the airtight containers to keep out roaches. Oh, I'm sorry, PALMETTO bugs (which are basically giant-ass roaches that live in palm trees). I keep the cat food in the freezer to keep creepy-crawlies out of it, too.
It IS the rain.
They are trying to find higher ground, and found MECCA! Too bad it just happens to be your KITCHEN.
We had that problem in Gambrills during Isabel summer.
We've been lucky so far here. The neighbors 2 houses up have a sump pump that won't pump and a roof that leaks. They got flooded through the bedroom ceiling the other night.
Yuck. I thought I'd left Hell's Kitchen behind...
You'll love my mom's quote:
Kill one ant and 3 come to the funeral...
Yuck Yuck Yuck
I'm so glad this didn't happen last summer during my visit!
How about calling a pest removal company??
