Great day for running

Too bad I didn't run with my camera today, because I saw a pair of these gorgeous little wood ducks bravely waddling right next to the trail today. That's a treat!

My run this morning felt great! That's also a treat! For me, it's a surprise to feel like your shoes are still bouncy and your stride is still light after 4 miles. Amazing! The weather helped, too - 40*F and no wind. I've got a half marathon workout-race on Sunday that I'm actually looking forward to! I'd really like to do it under 2:36 and finally finish a half marathon under a 12:00 min/mile pace, but that would be a PR, and those only happen when the stars are aligned and the Race Gods smile upon you. We will see!

One of the pleasures of visiting my aunt and uncle in CT is running on their local rail trail, which runs parallel to an old canal. There are always ducks in the water, and if I go early enough, there will usually be a sleepy one dozing on the trail or right by it. If I keep about 6 feet of distance between myself and the duck, it will just sit and watch me with sleepy eyes, totally unafraid.

Very nice. Ducks are way cool.

Sounds like a good run!

Our local high school drainage/run off/ not a real water way, is home to probably 50 ducks right now. We are baffled as to why...Makes running on the track pretty noisy, and definatley not as pictoresque as your rail trail!

Hope the stars align and you get a good run on Sunday! I found jelly beans to help with my prs!

B&A Trail Half is a good venue for PRs (except the rolls can be tough, I guess. It IS more rolling on the half than the full). But the field is not crazy large, so you can usually run your pace almost immediately. But no chip time, of course, unless they've upgraded their techno-gagetry support. Which I DOUBT. But I think after GOOFY, you have a VERY good chance of a PR! :-)
