Seventh Ring of Hell

I don't like to talk about this topic much on my blog, mainly because I just plain don't like talking about it. But that's what I'm entering. Voluntarily. Today.

Yes, I'm going back to COUNTING CALORIES.

I've been scrupulously logging my food five days per week since January 1st. That's three months now. I don't think I do much differently on the days I don't log my food, either, but it just gives me a little time off for good behavior.

The problem seems to be that I log a TRUCKLOAD of food.

Three months, all that training I've been doing, and I'm only down three measly pounds. :-(

Okay, IknowIknowIknow, time for an attitude readjustment. I don't know how long I'm going to do this, or what my numerical targets are right now, but I'm starting it today.

FitDay is my friend. FitDay is my friend. Repeat after me: FitDay is my friend.

And yes, as I just commented to my Clyde friend Roman Mica, "The easiest way for me to get faster is to put down my fork."

Counting calories sucks but you can do it.

right there with you, sister! It's a bit distressing to see it gathered all in one place. For now at least, I'm not restricting per se, but just taking stock of what goes in. It ain't pretty most days...

I am the queen of exercising, eating right and can't shed a lb... Fitday.com is great for tracking food and all that, just DON'T rely on their exercise/calories burned..it is WAY off!!!

The only times I've made great gains in losing is when I've had some outside influence-like the stomach flu-to help me along. I also used Cortislim and was plesantly surprised that it actually seemed to work. Math is not my forte-so I can't even begin to count calories.

I bought the fitday software ($25.00?) and it is fantastic. Much better than just using the website.

Maybe you are losing fats and building muscle mass...

You sound like me JUST before the weight lost hit. I was like "all that training and I weigh the same..." then WHAM I lost more than 5kg in 2 weeks!

I've never WHAM lost anything in my whole life!!!

I like Spark better than fitday and much better than ww. Of course, I am only down .5 from where I started 6 months ago and I have a buttload (no really, a buttload) of weight to lose. So maybe you don't need any advice from me! What you are doing is far from anything I would ever attempt at any weight!! Rock On!!

Good Luck - it seems unfair that an athlete would have to relegate themself to counting calories.

When I switched from 100% running to multi sport, I'd estimate a whole dress size effortlessly crept on.

Gosh, that really must be frustrating. You are training so hard, I think you should be able to eat what you want. You were so brave and passed up the Samoa ice cream for cripe sakes! You are strong, smart woman and know what works for your body. Hope the calorie counting is worth it.

I really don't put a lot of stock in weight/scales though. If you can, get your body fat measured. It's a better guide to fitness IMO. You can be a skinny fat person, I was last year. I was 132 pounds but 28% body fat. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat too!

I love the quote. Just hope that when I throw down the fork, I don't pick up a spoon.

I think I will try FitDay. It should be a little easier than writing it all down then getting the fat book out to figure out all the counts!
