Chesapeake Endurance Triathlon

Along with the third edition of the Chesapeakeman Ultra-distance Triathlon in Cambridge, Maryland this September 30th, they are offering a new event on the beautiful and pancake-flat Eastern Shore:

The Chesapeake Endurance Triathlon, with a 1.2-mile swim, 65-mile bike, and 10-mile run.

Sounds perfect for a long workout and dress rehearsal, 5 weeks back from Ironman Florida! The race management team always does a superb job on their events. I'm planning on entering. Who else is with me?

If those distances aren't long enough for you, they're also offering a 2.4-mile swim, and an "AquaVelo" with a 2.4-mile swim and a 112-mile bike. Something for everyone!

Note: The full iron-distance triathlon here is the one Ellie did last year - check out her report. The shorter distances will be on the same course, I expect, but maps aren't posted yet.

Nancy,

I might come down for the full. I like that new date. I am just trying to get a handle on the current and wind conditions on the course. "Flat as a pancake" don't matter with 30 mph wind in your face. I realize that the weather is always a crapshoot in any race - but I keep hearing some WILD things about the conditions down there. You went to the Chessy last year - is it similar conditions to Eagleman?

Thanks - HEIDI

Cool! Check out Ellie's report for the details:

It can be windy - but probably not more than 15 mph, and usually less. It was much cooler than the HOT Eagleman day we had last year!

Maybe in a couple of years! I'd love to race down there, but I'm not ready for those distances yet.

Sounds fun! My excuse is that the air fare is too expensive. :)

BTW, I like your "karate chop" running style. Good to have when screaming pass unsuspecting old ladies.
