Chesapeakeman photos

They're up!! Here are my photos; and here are Ellie's.

I like this closeup on the bike, even though it's not precisely in focus:

I always think my wetsuit photos look absolutely ghastly. But - I'm going to post this bathing beauty shot just for the entertainment value. Hey, it looks much better than it would have at the weight I carried at the beginning of the year! Besides, I always find it funny in an odd sort of way when people remove from public view or destroy photos that they consider slightly unflattering. Nobody looks fabulous slogging it through an entire tough and demanding multisport day. Laugh if you will - I STILL FINISHED a 2.4-mile open water swim against the current! AND immediately went on to complete a 112-mile bike leg well ahead of the cutoffs. I can't wait for Ironman Florida!

We go through life, have careers and babies and still are able and willing to compete in massive endurance events. I think that makes us very attractive, special people.

Keep rocking Nancy.

and besides, if you're at all like me, I like to surprise folks who see me and don't fit me into their preconceived ideas of an athlete. Of course, you're so much more advanced than I am athletically, but I love the look on people's faces when I tell them I've finished 3 marathons and am working on #4 and #5.

It happened again yesterday at the running shop -- I wandered over to the race brochure table and the guy asked if he could help me. i said I wasn't sure if I wanted to sign up for anything right then. He advised me ever so kindly, "Well, you can start with a 5K and work your way up, you know." When i said I was already training for distance, he suggested a 15K scheduled for this weekend; he was surprised (again -- 2nd time in 2 minutes) when I told him that might conflict with my 20-miler on Sunday. sheesh.

All that to say, "You rock the house even more precisely because your photos don't fit the stereotype."

I cringe at my old photographs still, but why I’m really cringing isn’t necessarily because of what I looked like it’s more of how I felt about who I was while overweight. My outside demeanor matched what I felt on the inside, self conscious, unhappy etc.

Your photograph on the other hand shows how you feel on the inside and it looks like a pretty darn good place to be.

I think you’re amazing by the way.

Nothing sexier than a woman in neoprene, unless she's sportin a smile after finishing a 2.4 mile swim.

Awww, you guys all rock. I wasn't really looking for positive strokes, but it's nice to hear them anyway!!

I think the bike picture says a lot. I look at that one compared to the pictures on your sidebar.

There has been a huge change (all good) during your training. And we always have room for other improvements.

I've lost quite a chunk of weight, this year, and still have an argument going with my belly. It simply refuses to get on board.

i don't care who you are...NO ONE looks good in a wetsuit! but i don't think I hear anybody laughing!

So you're saying I don't look good in it, eh? *sniff*

KIDDING!

But I only don't hear you laughing because everyone on the Internet is really a dog.
