If we go to any of the nearby big cities, that is.
Three of the top ten MOST DANGEROUS American cities over 500,000 population are within 120 miles of here.
There's a good reason why we stay out here on the Eastern Shore in small town USA!
In better news, Our tiny local high school (a block away, where I often run on their track) just made the ranking of #1187 in the top 1300 high schools in the country. They must be doing something right!

Oh great....Tucson is 18th on the metro list...But then Ohio, where I cam from, looks even MORE dangerous! (Can I buy a planet please?)
Our school is up in the 800s but it seems to be slipping every year. I think that is beacause the number of AP classes they can offer has fallen (due to funding) and the kids have figured out that you get no UC credit for taking the US Gov. AP test so why pay the $100 to take it.
I live near Oakland and Richmond but how dangerous they are is definitely a function of what neighborhood you wander in to. Mostly I don't go there at all.
These lists are so capricious. you always have to read the internals for the why. I noticed Phoenix was not on the list and yet it topped another list not long ago as a 'worst city'.
I'm glad to see my town isn't on there, and am glad I don't live on the same side of the state as Detroit and Flint! I'm also glad to see my daughter's town in NJ on the safest! Makes a mom worry just a little less.
Hold it. How can Troy, MI be near the top of the safe list, when Detroit (25 miles away) is the top of the UNsafe list?
And just for the world's information, Troy is not so very nice. Bleh.
like i needed another reason to confirm that Boulder is all that!
comm, have you been to Camden, NJ?
i have faith in this list...
