We all know what healthy eating is and its positive effects, right?
Wrong.

Eat what you want.
Life is short.

Thank you for posting this....more need to read it! I just worked out and am cooking dinner and just had a handful of potato chips! I love them!
Beer and burgers too! And wine and dark chocolate! Hell, it doesn't even have to be DARK chocolate!
Yes, life is certainly too short to not eat what you want!
Thanks for the link!
God that sucks - really sucks. I hate that study because I would like to think that I can influence my health and this study says I can't. Eff that.
Of course it's okay to eat junk food once in a while but if I ate everything I wanted to, all of the time I would weight at least 20 pounds more than I do now. Been there, done that.
I totally get how I've been resisting the "dietary religion". I don't diet. I eat what I want, and it's getting healthier as I get older, try new foods, and pay better attention to how I feel.
So if what we eat doesn't matter, why are so many more people overweight than ever before? Did I miss it, or did the study skip diabetes?
However did they manage to get those women to diet for EIGHT YEARS?
This is what I'd always thought (and hoped) was true: one should eat a balanced diet and in moderation. Thanks for the article!!! :)
I'll start by saying I'm not an expert. But here's what I noticed about the study:
it seems kind of arbitrary.
it only looks at fat, vegetables, fruit and grain intake - not overall macronutrients (other than fats and saturated fats).
I'll see your "healthy" food study and raise you an article on sugar and its impact on children
