Ow ow ow ow ow

Ack! I just threw my back out big time, about half an hour ago. I hope it's just a torn muscle instead of something nasty like discs.

I know exactly when I did it - Catherine was having a little behavior problem and I was carrying her to her room for some time for quiet solitary reflection. She was kicking and screaming a little in the attempt to divert my attention.

Then >twang< I felt something give out in the middle of my back, fairly painfully. Ouch!! It's possible might have said a few bad words as I set Catherine and her flailing arms and legs down rather precipitously.

I suppose it's good that my back waited until now when the girls are big enough to climb up on most things themselves if they need to! Plus we have a prescription in the cabinet which I may potentially abuse tonight to get a good night's sleep. Don't tell anyone.

And I was just emailing my training buddies today about the two coming half marathons we're doing together. I'm glad now that the first one is not for another six weeks! This training week may be as light as last week if my back doesn't recover quickly.

You poor thing! Ice down and take it easy.

If the problem persists, you can always do what I did with my hip and buy some kinesio tape. Lance Armstrong says it has "magical properties," and I can vouch for it!

Oh no! Chambord... lots and lots of Chambord on the rocks with a vicoden chaser.

Oooh, ouch! The only times I've hurt my back has been lifting my kids, I swear!

Get thee to a good chiropractor if it doesn't feel better soon. I think I'd just about marry mine if I wasn't married already ;-)

Take it easy!!! Don't run until you know how bad it is! Take care and although it may sound tempting, mixing Vicoden and Chambord may not be the best option :-)

Oh dear, sounds painful. Funny how we train safe and within limits only to have life set us back with these sort of injuries. I busted my big toe just this weekend (I walked into a concrete slab in the car park while putting up the kids bikes on the bike carrier). I couldn't ice it right away as we were heading out biking with the kids, but I could pray, and that's what I did (I also "cheated" and asked R1 & R2 to pray just for good measure). :) One day later, it's bruised but good enough to bike and run.

Sorry about my "standard" response to this, but I'll be praying for speedy healing for you. Whatever it is that caused it, God is big enough to heal it.

Oh Nancy ...take pleny of anti-inflamatories and REST as much as a mom of twin can rest. Here is hoping it is just a pulled muscle.... fingers crossed for you!

So sorry to hear about your back. What a bummer! Hope you're able to rest it and it gets better soon.

Take it easy. With kids that is hard to do-but try! Hope youe feel better soon.

You and Comms both. Hmmm! Conspiracy.

Take it easy. I've been there, too, and know how pesky back issues can be.

Remember that rest during injury is usually better than pushing through it.
