Grabbing the Garmin Forerunner 305

I did it finally. The Garmin Forerunner 305, that I had fun playing with last November, has now dropped down into a very attractive price range for me, so I grabbed the opportunity and ordered one.

I saw a note on the TriJuice blog that they were offering a $50 rebate. Woot! So I browsed through Shopzilla to find the lowest pre-rebate price around.

BuyeRetail had them listed for the lowest price I could find (outside of eBay): $236 plus $15 shipping (no sales tax) is what I ordered it for, which will wind up at $201 after the rebate, if everything works out correctly. Not bad for an item with an MSRP of $377!

You can look forward to lots more graphs from me very soon!

I am learning that resistance is NOT futile. Will.not.replace.201.with.305. Must not!

But it is tempting

not making it easy for me... I *really* need a regular watch w/HR, not another Garmin...

If 21CM folds, I'll follow, too. sigh.

I only have the 205 (no heart rate monitor) and love it! You'll be glad you indulged in this fun toy.

Nancy,

That is a great deal. This Engineer (read: cheapskate) commends you! I paid about $200 for the 205 (no hrm) last June.

TIP: Make sure your device has the newest firmware loaded. Some of these have sat around at the vendor and my not have it. Goto the Garmin site to check.

Enjoy!

How big are these things? I'd LOVE to get one but the last time I looked at them it was like strapping a laptop to my wrist.

Tag, you're it, Nancy - see the details on my blog:

Yeah, it's pretty much a laptop on your wrist. Isn't that GREAT!? Good thing I'm not a petite stick-person.

You inspired me to jump too. Not only that, but I looked at what else the company was selling and bought a satellite radio for my daughter. Does the Garmin come with the cable to connect it to a computer or does that have to be bought separately.

The BuyeRetail listing says:
Box Contents:

* Forerunner® 305
* Heart rate monitor
* Garmin Training Center CD
* Docking cradle
* Expander strap
* AC charger
* PC/USB interface cable
* Quick start guide
* Owner's manual

So it comes with a PC cable! What it doesn't include is a bike cadence sensor, which I'm told are available for about $40. I may get that too.
