No long run

It was too sweltering by the time I rolled my carcass out of bed to do a long run. The dew point has remained well over 71*F, making everything sticky and uncomfortable even when temperatures are moderate. When temps rise, it gets downright dangerous. So I settled for mile repeats at the track again. That was hot and slow enough!

It can always get worse. Last night a 60-year-old man collapsed and died at a local 8k race.

Be careful out there!

too true. my group was running at 9 on saturday and i went out at 7 instead. i was supposed to run that 8k, but i passed on it due to the weather. i heard they held the start for 15 minutes to see if it would cool off.

It DID cool off a bit. But the OVERNIGHT low for Saturday to Sunday was predicted to be only down to about 80 degrees. STILL FLIPPIN' HOT.

In retrospect, I'm glad I ran it. At the time, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to handle the heat.

I know what that type of heat can do (ran Chicago Marathon last year... and live in Minnesota, where it is usually hot and humid in July/August).

Always shocking news, though.

Have a good week and stay cool!

How awful!
Hydrate hydrate hydrate and walk instead!

Mile repeats are nothing to sneeze at. They take a lot of discipline. Well done.

I train in Houston and fully understand the heat issues. You are smart to do what you can and not force a workout that might be detrimental to your training. Keep up the great work.
