Steelhead photos

My photos are up! Some are fun - like me trying to look hardcore while the person behind me is pedaling along casually like it's a Sunday outing. Well, at least they're behind me!

Some are not so flattering, but at least there's a finisher medal involved.

Columbia 2008 photos

One decent wetsuit photo. Is that too much to ask? Apparently:

Uh, no, not the skinny old lady. I'm the not-skinny one in back.

But I do like the bike photos, because I was having FUN!

The helping hand

I think this (above) may be my favorite race photo of me of all time. This is one of the fabulous soaking wet frozen volunteers helping a soaking wet frozen ME over the stream crossing yesterday. I couldn't do it without you!!

Another shot of the same volunteer helping another runner at the same place - you can't tell from the photos that the air temperature (and probably water temperature) was a very uncomfortable 42*F at the time.

Another of me, blurry, but at least you can tell I was laughing:

The whole race photo album is here.

The photographer is Jon Valentine, and I believe the volunteer's name is Donna, but I'm not certain of that. They rock!

I need a new running vest

Preferably one that doesn't look like a large navy blue sack of potatoes. (This is from the half marathon last weekend. Yeah, all those people in the background are way way ahead of me, having already completed the turnaround which is about a mile down the road from here).

Actually it's a super-comfortable microfiber cycling vest that comes down low enough in back to keep my big butt warm.

But I always hate my race photos when I wear it, especially cinched in around the floppy vest with a race belt riding up around my ribcage. Very flattering.

Come to think of it, the hair is going to have to go shorter this summer, too. Way too bushy.

OK, some time I'm going to have to get over this tendency to micro-analyze race photos. Just not yet.

MCM photos

Some of the photos are already up for Marine Corps Marathon, but I don't like the marathonfoto.com website because the thumbnails are so small you can't really tell what the photos look like very well!

Annapolis photos

Here they are! The wetsuit photo was just too horrible to consider posting, like the Old Woman from the Black Lagoon.

I think I had just stuffed a couple Clif Bloks in my mouth here and quickly got down in the aerobars again just for the photographer. So I'm cracking myself up:

This is what hypoxia looks like:

Eagleman pics are up!

I seem to be smiling a lot more than I recall! Here's the link for all of mine.

No, I haven't written a race report yet. Go read Triathlonmom's and Holly's, they're great, and I'm sure much better reading than anything that I will write at this late date!!

Ocean City Half Marathon proofs

I feel cold again just looking at these!!! I did order the top photo - it looks like the bottom one got some snow on the lens - understandably! But I like how it looks like I'm LEADING the race!

I believe this was the first race I've done in which I actually kept wearing the earband and gloves all the way to the finish line. And only took them off then because they were soaking wet.

National Half Marathon photos are up!

Once again demonstrating conclusively that I can't get both feet off the ground at the same time while running to save my life.

And what's your guess? Do you think this chick behind me is trying to catch up to me and get my attention in order to get some fashion advice?

Escort service

Here I am, running with my two personal bodyguards Dave (foreground) and Chuck (right) at the B&A Half Marathon.
We should have had a fantastic finish photo with the three of us coming over the finish line together, arms raised in victory - but they seem to have missed it entirely! Sigh. It would have been a great one.

Nancy the lawn lady

Just when I'm feeling all good about my PR over the weekend, I find this photo of myself (that Chuck took) from our practice triathlon last May that I hadn't before seen:

Well, that kind of put it all back into perspective in a big hurry! It made me laugh. Maybe I can get a second job as a lawn ornament:
